Our Story
A small family farm, rooted in community, growing for the future.
Walt’s is 12-acre apple orchard and farm located in Westport, Massachusetts. Proudly family-owned, we purchased the farm from the Westport Land Conservation Trust in 2021.
Originally farmed by Walt Pietrzyk—for his life and by his parents before him—Walt’s Farm is a long standing staple in Westport, MA. When Walt passed in 2020, the land was bought by the Land Trust.
We were selected to purchase the property in an effort to bring young farmers to Westport to continue the town’s tradition of agricultural history.
The next generation of Walt’s: Barry Cohen and Courtney Rocha, with daughter, Cora.

As a coastal engineer and former farm manager, we’re passionate about environmental conservation.
Farming perfectly melds our passions for sustainably growing food, strengthening local communities, and balancing conservation of wildlife and wild places.
We are deeply invested in managing outdoor spaces that are multi-dimensional.
Our land that has been producing apples, blueberries, peaches, and pears for over seventy years.
While many in the community have strong memories of the fruit stand in its day, much of the property was neglected over the past twenty years as ownership aged and passed to a new generation.
Through regenerative practices, like low tillage, cover cropping, and rotational grazing, we are laying the foundation for healthy, nutrient dense food production.
We have a four-year-old daughter Cora, who was born on a farm.
She’s a wild and fiery little person who loves the dirt, animals, and flowers. We hope to raise a child with a connection to and awareness of the natural world around her and a deep understanding of how humans and nature can thoughtfully coincide.
It truly takes a village and we’re excited for Walt’s to be part of that landscape.
“Community has always been a huge part of our lives. We love growing things, caring for the land, and getting to know it.”
Barry Cohen, co-owner of Walt’s Farm
